Scope of Work (SOW)
Reporting to the Assistant Financial Planning and Analysis Manager, the consultant is expected to act as a Senior Financial Analyst to provide ongoing help with forecasting and planning process.
The successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Experience in the finance and/or insurance industry
Proficient knowledge and expertise in the use of Hyperion and desktop information tools (e.g., Excel, MS Visio, and PowerPoint)
Working knowledge and understanding of accounting principles (i.e. balance sheet and cash flows)
Working knowledge of strategic planning i.e. OGSM framework
Use, develop, and maintain financial models/reports/scenarios and financial reference tools
Proactively identify and analyze key drivers and cost trends
Capability to ‘tell the story’ and create insightful analytics and financial reviews through dashboards/scorecards
Research, analyze, and evaluate complex issues, data, and situations, interpret and apply laws/ regulations/ procedures/ guidelines, produce reports of the findings and outcomes, and to proactively make and support decisions, alternatives and recommendations where little previous analysis may be available
DELIVERABLES:
Develop insightful expense reporting and actionable variance analysis
Drive analytical and conceptual thinking that extends beyond the numbers into strategy
Perform complex analysis on trends and provide opportunities for improvement
Actively communicate financial planning expertise and prepare departments to have a clear understanding of financials, processes, and planning functions
Provide guidance and leadership throughout the planning cycle
Collect, analyze and manage quantitative data and create meaningful reports to lead business improvement and cost reductions
